Wind & Snow Load Info

It is essential to learn about how wind and snow loads are calculated and factored into the design of our structures. Understanding these factors is crucial for ensuring the safety, integrity, and compliance of our buildings with local building codes.

Wind Load Information
Wind loads play a significant role in the structural design of buildings. They are forces generated by wind flow around the building that need to be considered during construction. Our designs adhere to industry-standard wind design codes, such as the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) 7. These codes establish guidelines for determining design wind speeds and pressures based on geographic location and building characteristics. To accurately assess wind loads, the engineer considers the wind zone of your building’s location. Different regions experience varying wind speeds, and our designs ensure that the building can withstand the specific wind conditions in your area. Call one of our Project Managers to discuss your questions 877-201-0150.

Snow Load Information
For areas prone to snowfall, the design must account for the weight of accumulated snow on the building’s roof and walls. Snow loads are determined using established methods and local building codes, such as ASCE 7. Factors like ground snow load, roof slope, and building exposure are considered to ensure accurate load calculations. Your building manufacturer’s engineering team calculates the load for different components of the building, guaranteeing that the structure is prepared for potential snow accumulation.

To prevent excessive snow buildup on roofs, solutions such as appropriate roof shapes like A-Frame Vertical so that items more easily slide off the roof.  Our tubular built metal buildings are meticulously designed to meet or exceed industry standards and local building codes.

Your structure can be built to withstand the unique challenges posed by wind and snow loads, be sure to let your project manager know what your local building code requires to pass your inspection (if required).
